My Studies from the ASIFA Archive!

Hey pals!

If you haven't heard about the grooviest place this side of the Dixie, then listen up. The ASIFA Archive is an awesome place full of cartoon goodness from the distant to recent past. It's a great resource for animators and illustrators alike!

I went there with the award winning Sean Kriener (see below) and we sat in the cozy little building all day looking at Ren and Stimpy storyboards. They also had these old books titled Great Artists Courses or something that totally rocked. I was copying Willard Mullin until Steve Worth kicked me out. Steve is the great guy that runs the ASIFA Archive. He was really nice and helpful, shared stories with us about his experiences in the industry as well as some stories he's gathered about old animators. He totally didn't mind me drooling all over everything too!

Talk about the sweetest place ever. There are tons of old drawings all over the walls (which all these studies I'm posting are from), cases of Spumco storyboards including cartoons that were never made, and fully grown (yup, you heard me) FULLY GROWN ADULTS were sitting around watching old Oswald the Rabbit cartoons, laughing out loud and spilling their cereal all over their pajamas. Truly a slice of heaven. If you're ever in the Hollywood area, you should definitely stop by. I believe they're open Tuesdays and Thursdays, but Steve Worth said they might be opening 5 days a week starting March. I haven't dropped back in to find out, so if you go in, lemme know!
