CS4 inking sketch test

testing some zooming and inking in CS4. it renders linework great and makes inking at 66.7% really natural and smoother.

anywho, night cap sketches.

Dallas on Form

Concentrated more on form and the build of the man; from rough to surfaced drawing. Some of the detail worked against me toward the end of the night, the effects of habit and fatigue.
But drawing till late always beats late night spelling bees!

More Warm-ups

Did these in an exercise of gesture and simplification, did this by drawing MUCH SMALLER than i often work and more quickly. Trying to nail Dallas' forms and proportions consistently, while getting interesting shapes and gestures.
I'm pretty happy with these first warm-up attempts, but still wanna figure some stuff out.

Dallas, Octopus man & Pentel Pocket BRUSH PEN!

here's a couple sketches I did with my new pentel pocket brush pen and watercolor.

I'll write more on this brush pen later (and some others I've had my eye on), i think it's worth its own write up. But for now, enjoy some drawings. anyone else have one of these fine pens?

Rag Doll Ninjas...

Rag-doll ninjas don't stand a chance against Dallas T. Washington.

this is an idea I had for a comic whilst at work. I was about to head to the gym later this night when I was suddenly struck by visual lightning and I had to get it down on paper. Gonna use this as my cornerstone for my Dallas T. Washington comic in the mid-far-future.

I want Dallas to be jumping out of the comic panel and grabbing the enemy in the next panel by the throat; then telling him to his face that he's gonna kill him. how much tougher can you get?

more Dallas t. sketches

Dallas truckin'. He's in a kinder and gentler mood.

Dallas && Gumphry && Watercolor == FUN!

ink & watercolor.
I couldn't fall asleep last night (over-napped immediately after turkey dinner) so I was compelled to dip back into my old inkwell and practice smore' with my watercolors.

A little Gumphry watercolor sketch. Had alot of fun on this one. In retrospect I shouldn't have composed Gumph dead center like this; I guess I got too excited to just draw. but overall, I'm happy with the drawing and my growth with watercolor. Good old fashioned drawing fun at 2am on Thanksgiving.

Started off with this Dallas watercolor sketch. kinda warmed me up. I wasn't thinking to compose an image, which is a bad habit, but I just needed to put something down on paper first.

New Dallas Designs

Reshaping the Dallas designs a bit. made him a bit stockier, as well as pushed his dominant shapes more. shrinking his nose and pushing his eyes up higher on his head, and creating a larger "big mouth" and chin

super quickie with the American flag.
